'Cats Roll Into Three-Match Homestand

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The Davidson Wildcats will return to Belk Arena on Tuesday night to start off a three-match homestand filled with Atlantic 10 Conference action.
COMING UP... Davidson will play host to VCU for a single game on Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 5 p.m. before hosting Rhode Island in a weekend series on Friday and Saturday. Friday's match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. opening serve and Saturday will begin at approximately 4 p.m. Live stats for all matches can be found at davidsonwildcats.com/coverage, while Tuesday and Saturday's matches will be broadcasted to ESPN+.
LAST TIME OUT... The last time the Wildcats took to the floor they made program history, defeating the Dayton Flyers for the first time ever and then sweeping Dayton for its first two, back-to-back A-10 losses since 2013. For the weekend efforts, senior Anela Davis was named the league's Defensive Player of the Week for the second time this season, as well as freshman Jackie Bardin earning Rookie of the Week honors.Â

BLOCK PARTY... As of Oct. 4, Davidson ranks top-10 nationally with 2.75 blocks per set and Anela Davis also ranks 10th in the nation with her 1.49 blocks per set. Additionally, as a team, Davidson ranks 39th in total blocks (146).
A NATION ON NOTICE... Outside of Davidson's exceptional blocking unit, the Wildcats rank 83rd in assists per set (12.13), 42nd in attacks per set (36.25) and 58th in digs per set (15.45). Bella Brady, who just eclipsed the 1,000-dig mark, ranks 18th individually with 5.09 digs per set and 45th with 270 total digs this season.Â
ABOUT VCU... The Rams hold the all-time series against the 'Cats at a 23-2 advantage, as Davidson last defeated VCU in a 3-2 bout in February 2021. This season, VCU is 8-8 overall and 3-1 in conference play with two wins over Rhode Island and a series split with George Mason.
SCOUTING RHODY... Davidson is 6-5 against the Rhode Island Rams in the all-time series, winning both meetings last season. The Rams are 0-4 in league play thus far, but led by senior Claire Wagner, who averages 3.52 kills per set.Â
