DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Davidson volleyball fought for every inch of action on Tuesday night, defeating VCU 3-2 from inside Belk Arena for its fifth straight victory.

With the win, the 'Cats improve to 5-0 in Atlantic 10 play and 11-5 overall on the season. The win is also just the third time in program history that Davidson has defeated the Rams.

Overall, the Rams out-hit Davidson .147 to .144, but the Wildcats caught the edge in the deciding set, swinging a match-high .310 to win their first five-set match of the season.

Isabel Decker had a match-high 13 kills, followed by Emma Slusser's 12 and Sola Omonije's 10. Anela Davis hit .313 to lead the offense and Bella Brady kept the defense alive with 27 digs. Davidson, who leads the Atlantic 10 in total blocks, had 14 blocks compared to VCU's 12, while the Rams held the advantage in digs 94-90.

The 'Cats cruised to their first set victory, jumping out to an 18-9 lead and hanging onto a four point advantage to win it 25-21. VCU flipped the switch in the second, connecting for 14 kills on 31 swings (.258) to run away with a 25-16 decision.

With the match split, the Rams and Wildcats got into a rubber match in the third before Davidson scored 14 of the final 16 points to pull away with a 25-15 victory. Brady served the 'Cats to their first lead of the set, 14-13, while Omonije and Decker provided two-straight kills as Davidson took its largest lead of the frame, 16-14. With Jessie Doyal at the end line, the junior captain then served back-to-back aces to put the set out of reach and hand the Wildcats the 2-1 match lead.

After dropping the fourth set, 25-20, Davidson jumped out to a 6-3 lead in the fifth after a Decker kill. A kill from Davis put the 'Cats in position to win the match, 14-12, before VCU rallied and went on to earn match-point of their own with a 16-15 lead. After a Davidson timeout, the Wildcats responded with three straight, thanks to kills from Omonije and Jackie Bardin, and won the final set, 18-16.
