Heffner Leads Grandover Collegiate; Darkness Suspends Round Two

GREENSBORO, N.C. -- Davidson's Alex Heffner was atop the individual leaderboard at 9-under and the Wildcats were in second place when round two of the 2022 Grandover Collegiate hosted by UNCG was suspended due to darkness.
The two-day/54-hole event is being played on the Par 72, 6,800-yard Grandover Resort layout.
Heffner (-9), the reigning Atlantic 10 Player of the Year, opened with a six-under 66 and was three-under in the afternoon before play was halted at 6:15 p.m. The junior leads the 109-player field by one stroke over UNCG's Noah Connor (-8).
Davidson (-10), the defending champs, is one of four schools under par and is currently 13 back of the host Spartans, who are currently 23-under. Elon is one swing behind the Wildcats, while Bowling Green sits in fourth place at six-under.
Senior Ethan Hall is also in contention for the Wildcats in a tie for fourth place at five-under. Classmate Brian Garrett signed for a 72 this morning and was two over on his second 18 in a tie for 28th.
Davidson's Mel Deasy bounced back in the afternoon and was two-under on his round with three holes to play.
The second round will resume Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. with continuous play into the final 18 holes.
