'Cats Comeback at Bellarmine

"We are learning how to win when we are not our best and that's important," head coach Andy Lausier said. "Our seniors have developed into incredible leaders and we saw some gutsy performances tonight from some sophomores tonight too."
The 'Cats dropped three of their first five bouts and sat within four in the team score, 11-7. Senior Kyle Gorant earned a 14-4 major decision over his opponent from Bellarmine at 133, and sophomore Bryce Sanderlin earned a close 3-1 decision where his takedown at the end of the first period proved to be the difference as each wrester also scored an escape apiece.
In the come-back half, sophomore Jaden Hardrick led the way with a 7-5 decision over Devan Hendricks but Davidson would fall in their next two matches. It was up to the seniors after that. Finlay Holston took a well-earned 9-1 major decision over Bryant Wilkinson to put the 'Cats within five of the team score, 19-14. Trigg would take the mat next and he delivered exactly what Davidson needed, pinning his opponent in 1:57. This is the second consecutive dual the Foley, Minn. native's match has decided the outcome.
