ONE FOR THE BOOKS... The Wildcats enter Saturday's meeting with the Dukes, set to play in front of their home crowd for the first time in 28 days. While the 'Cats started off A-10 play 1-0, Davidson ended non-conference play with a 9-3 record, marking their best non-conference ledger since the 2006-07 season.
LAST TIME OUT... Cameron Tabor's go-ahead 3-pointer with 14 seconds left lifted the Wildcats to a 50-47 win over St. Bonaventure Wednesday night in the A-10 opener in Olean, N.Y. Elle Sutphin scored a game-high 20 points, while Suzi-Rose Deegan added 10 points and Chloe Welch chipped in with five points and eight rebounds to lead the Wildcats to their fifth straight win and 10th in 11 contests.
HOMETOWN HEROES... The 'Cats have had three straight winning seasons at home (8-5, 10-6, 5-4) in 2018-19, 2019-20 and 2020-21, and have averaged 69.2 points per game inside Belk Arena during that three-year stretch. This year, the Wildcats are 4-1 at home, and this week also includes home games against VCU (Jan. 19) and Fordham (Jan. 21). It's the first of two three-game A-10 homestands, as Davidson will host Dayton, George Mason and Saint Joseph's Jan. 30-Feb. 4.
THE NEWBIES... Davidson newcomers Elle Sutphin and Issy Morgan have made a splash so far this season, with Sutphin leading the team in scoring with 13.5 points per game and Morgan adding 7.9 per outing. Morgan, a freshman out of Sydney, Australia, has captured three A-10 Rookie of the Week honors in her debut season, while Sutphin, the redshirt sophomore from Pilot Mountain, N.C., earned her first A-10 Player of the Week honor on Dec. 27 after averaging 17 points per game in a 2-0 week for the 'Cats.
