NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The Davidson Wildcats earned two Atlantic 10 awards for the second straight week, the league announced Tuesday, as Bella Brady was named the A-10's Defensive Player of the Week for the second time in a row, and freshman Isabel Decker garnered this week's Rookie of the Week title.
Brady, a May E. Wall and Monger Family Scholar, was steady as ever for the Wildcats last weekend, helping the 'Cats to a one-win weekend at the UNF Invitational. Tallying 65 digs, the Winter Park, Fla. native averaged 5.42 digs per set while dishing eight assists. Brady also passed a .957 on serve receive, and served an ace of her own during Davidson's 3-1 win over Georgia State.
A native of La Grange, Ill., Decker had an outstanding weekend, collecting the first two double-doubles of her young career with 17 kills and 14 digs against Virginia Tech and 12 kills and 10 digs during a 3-1 win over Georgia State on Saturday. After hitting .333 against VT and .206 against Georgia State, the Corbin and Robert A. Currie Scholar ended the weekend with a .183 attacking percentage, while averaging 2.5 kills per set and 2.08 digs per set.
Brady, Decker and the Wildcats will be back in action this Saturday and Sunday, for a three-match slate at the College of Charleston Invitational.
