ELON, N.C. – Davidson men's cross country tallied 105 points at the Elon Cross Country "Friday Night Lights" opener to take fourth place on Friday night.
Two freshman 'Cats snuck into the top-20 finishers in the 6K race. Jay Shanahan crossed the line in 18th place with a 18:49.7 finish and Charlie Siebert followed his teammate in 19th place just 0.3 seconds later at 18:50.0.
"The freshmen ran great," head coach Renny Waldron said. "Jay and Charlie ran with a lot of poise and composure, and they looked like experienced college runners out there."
"We have a lot of work to do, but this team is going to get better and better as this season rolls along."
