Garewal and Davis Grab A-10 Weekly Honors

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – On the heels of leading Davidson to a third-place finish in its home event, the Wildcats' Viraj Garewal and Will Davis have been selected Atlantic 10 Men's Golfer and Rookie of the Week, respectively, as announced by the league Friday.
"I'm glad to see that Viraj and Will were recognized for their good play at River Run this week," said Davidson head coach Tim Straub. "Viraj is carrying on his solid play from last year. I was especially happy to see how well Will played in his first college tournament."
Garewal, an all-conference performer in the spring, led the 'Cats in their home opener finishing tied for ninth at 218 (72-72-74). Like Garewal, Davidson's Alex Heffner (73-73-72) signed for a 54-hole total of two-over.
A freshman from Jacksonville, Fla., Davis was solid in his collegiate debut placing tied for 16th out of 84 competitors. After opening with a 73, he fired a one-under 71 Monday afternoon before closing with a final-round 77.

The Wildcats return to action next week the Old Town Collegiate hosted by nationally-ranked Wake Forest, Sept. 27-28.
