CARY, N.C. - Davidson women's cross country finished third out of six teams at the Adidas XC Challenge hosted by NC State on Friday evening. The 'Cats recorded 92 points to take the third spot behind Wake Forest and event winner and host, NC State.
Freshman Jordan Reed crossed the finish line with a time of 18:31.5 to round out the top 30 finishers of the night in the 5k run. Crossing the finish line behind her were three Wildcats in a row, sophomore Haille Steward who recorded a 18:53.0 time in the 33rd spot, junior Alexis McDonnell with a time of 18:54.2 to finish 34th and freshman Abby Nasse who finished 35th with a time of 18:55.0.
"I was happy with way we ran in very hot and humid conditions," head coach Jen Straub said. "Our split from 1-5 was 39 seconds and we hope to continue to improve going forward. We will be in a 2 week training phase before we race again on October 2."
Natalie Abernathy and Anna Kathryn Kilby finished within 0.5 seconds of each other, claiming the 40th and 41st spots out of 67 competitors. Anna Catherine Wilson posted a time of 19:26.4, Ciara Coger finished with a 19:36.3 mark and Kelsey Troutmann crossed the finish line right behind her, stopping the clock at 19.37.3.
