DAVIDSON, N.C. -- Senior guard Katie Turner has been selected to the 2020-21 College Sports Information Directors of America's Academic All-District Team, the organization announced Thursday. Turner is one of five Atlantic 10 women's basketball players to earn the honor, as the Nevada native landed on the All-District Region 3 team.
The 2020-21 Academic All-District® Women's Basketball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in late May.
"Katie truly embodies the #NoCompromises and #AthleticsDoneRight mindset of Davidson College and Davidson Athletics," said head coach Gayle Fulks. "As a scholar-athlete, she has excelled both on the court and in the classroom. This recognition of her success as a student, gives a glimpse into the dedication Katie has shown to our program, campus and community during her four years at Davidson."
Turner stamped her name across Davidson's record books throughout her tenure, and ended her career as a three-year captain of the Wildcats. She led Davidson's offense for four straight seasons, starting in every single game of her career, becoming the program's all-time leading three-point shooter and all-time minutes played leader. Turner sits in the top-10 in all-time scoring and third in career assists while ending her career with seven straight double-digit scoring performances.
In the classroom Turner has been a standout economics major at Davidson, while being a member of the college's Economics Honors Thesis program and Omicron Delta Kappa Honor Society. She has also been a three-year member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
