'Cats in Contention, Will Host CARE Game
4/6/2021 2:46:00 PM | Women's Soccer
With two games left on the schedule, the Davidson women's soccer team has a lot to play for on — and off — the field.
On it, the Wildcats (6-3-1, 4-2 A-10) are battling for one of the Atlantic 10 Conference's four postseason berths. They'll host VCU at Alumni Stadium Thursday at 1 p.m. before wrapping up the regular season Sunday afternoon at George Washington.
"The division is very, very tight, and the final games for everybody are going to be very important," said Davidson coach Adam Denton. "It's going to be a really exciting and challenging weekend. The players are looking forward to the challenge as they have done all year and are looking forward to finishing the season strong."
The Wildcats are coming off two straight wins, having won 1-0 at George Mason on March 28 and 2-1 at Richmond April 1.
Hailey Braemer ranks among the league leaders in assists (6, 2nd), points (14, 5th) and goals (4, T-7th), while Sophia Caruso's tied for third with three game-winning goals.
Goalkeeper Mary Grace Bunch's .697 goal against average ranks second in the A-10, while she is third in saves (33) and fourth in saves percentage (.805).

Thursday afternoon's contest with VCU will also feature the Wildcats supporting social justice causes.
They'll be raising awareness for the College Athletes for Respect and Equality (CARE) initiative founded in 2020 by Davidson men's basketball player Kellan Grady. For more information on CARE, click here.
The team will also warm up while wearing "CHANGE" shirts from the Davidson track and field program.
