DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The Davidson men's tennis team celebrated its six graduating Wildcats on Senior Day before battling the UNCG Spartans to a 5-2 result from the Davidson Tennis Courts on Saturday afternoon.
Rookies Maxwell Kachkarov and Alejandro Solares picked up right where they left off, earning their sixth win of the season as a doubles unit. The two trounced UNCG's Grewe and Palmer from court one, in a 6-2 set. While the 'Cats dropped the overall doubles point, Kachkarov and Solares improve to 6-3 on the season from court one and 7-4 overall.
Outside of the doubles matches, senior Yash Parikh picked up a hard-fought, three-set win from court three. The Tucson, Arizona native won his first set 6-1 before falling behind 2-6 in the second. However, in the defining third set, the senior starter pulled out a commanding 6-1 win to earn Davidson its first point of the day. Junior Brooks Green won the 'Cats their second point of the day, as he collected a convincing 6-2, 6-1 win from court six during singles action.
The Wildcats will return to play for two more regular season matches, on the road, next weekend before beginning the Atlantic 10 Championship Tournament April 28 through May 1.
