CHARLOTTE -- The Davidson men's tennis team dropped its final non-conference test of the season on Sunday, as the Wildcats fell just 4-3 at the hands of the Charlotte 49ers on the road.
The 49ers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, taking matches one and two from the doubles courts, despite Douglas Macintosh and Sam Kavarana winning from 6-1 from court three.
Maxwell Kachkarov, Alejandro Solares and Brooks Green dominated from the singles courts, picking up Davidson's three points of the day from two-set sweeps. Kachkarov picked up his fifth win of the season from court one, defeating Charlotte's Lieberman 6-2, 7-5, before fellow classmate Solares trounced Dobrnjac 6-2, 6-0 from court five. Green closed out the day from the six-slot, downing UNCC's Thomson in two 6-1 scores.
Senior Yash Parikh battled through a two-set battle against No. 103 Ignasi de Rueda, forcing a first set tiebreaker, while fellow senior Camden Mazzoni fought in the lone three-set match on the day.
The Wildcats will return to the courts on April 28, from Orlando, Fla., to begin the A-10's Championship tournament.
