
Piccardo Named A-10 Defensive Player of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Fresh off his first shutout in a Wildcat uniform, Giacomo Piccardo of the Davidson men's soccer team has been named the Atlantic 10 Defensive Player of the Week, announced by the league office Monday.
A sophomore from Genova, Italy, Piccardo recorded a career-best eight saves, while facing 16 shots, in Davidson's 3-0 blanking of George Mason over the weekend.
Piccardo, who transferred from Boston College earlier this year, has a 2-2-2 record in goal for the 'Cats and has stopped 23 shots.
Unbeaten in four of their last five, the Wildcats return to the pitch Saturday with a 7 p.m. kickoff at league rival VCU.
