CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – After 36 holes of the 2021 Tar Heel Intercollegiate, Davidson's Viraj Garewal sits T-15th at even par, while the Wildcats are seventh following rounds of 293 and 294.
The three-day/54-hole event is being played on the Par 72, 7,242-yard UNC Finley Golf Course layout.
Tomorrow's third and final round will begin at 8:30 a.m. off the 1st and 10th tees.
The Wildcats, who are just three strokes behind No. 44 UNCW (+8), were one of several teams that had to complete their opening round this morning due to severe weather suspending play Saturday.
After opening with an even-par 72, senior Alex Ross will enter day three just outside the Top-25 at 147 (+3).
Brian Garrett (149/T-41), Clayton Tribus (150/T-48) and Alex Heffner (151/T-55) are also in the Davidson lineup, while Dean Naime (157/T-79) is one of 17 individual competitors in the 87-player field.
In addition to North Carolina, which entered 17th in the latest GolfStat.com National Rankings, the 14-team field features three Top-50 teams.
Led by individual leader Peter Fountain (-9), the younger brother of former Wildcat great Richard Fountain, UNC (-15) holds the top spot in the team standings, 12 strokes clear of Michigan State (-3).
