
Shaffer Named A-10 Performer of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Women's tennis player Josie Shaffer has been named Atlantic 10 Conference Performer of the Week, the league announced Thursday.
The weekly honor is the first for the sophomore from Greenwood Village, Colo.
Shaffer plays No. 1 singles and doubles for the Wildcats and is currently 4-4 in both.
She delivered two victories in Davidson's 6-1 win over Western Carolina on Saturday, March 6. She defeated Kata Foldeak 6-2, 7-6 in singles, then joined Nicole Krykarov in a 6-3 win over Foldeak and Jacy Smith.
Shaffer added two more wins in Wednesday's 5-2 loss to Kennesaw State. She teamed with Krykarov in a 6-3 doubles victory over Paola Cortez and Ji Youn Lee, and in singles, she defeated Taylor Dean 6-4, 6-1.
After playing four straight matches at home, Shaffer and the Wildcats will play their next two on the road. They travel to James Madison Saturday and will visit Saint Joseph's in A-10 play March 19.
