Kachkarov Named A-10 Rookie of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- The freshmen on the Davidson's men's tennis team continue to make a statement this season, as the team has earned its second Rookie of the Week honor in as many weeks, the league announced Tuesday. This week, New York native Maxwell Kachkarov earned the conference's weekly recognition, while fellow doubles mate Alejandro Solares earned last week's honor.

In a one-match week for the Wildcats, Kachkarov picked up a singles win over North Carolina A&T's Nicholas Arduh. The rookie won in two straight sets, 6-1 & 6-4, to help the Wildcats clinch their 7-0 victory over A&T. In addition to the win, Kachkarov had earned his first start from Davidson's No. 1 slot in singles play. As of this weekend, Kachkarov has improved to 3-3 in singles play in his rookie year.

On the doubles courts, Kachkarov, and his partner Solares, won their second-straight match with a 6-4 win against NC A&T last Saturday. The win improves the Wildcats' No. 1 doubles unit to 3-2 on the year.
