Wildcats Sweep NC A&T, 7-0

DAVIDSON, N.C. -- The Davidson men's tennis team picked up its second win of the season in style this afternoon, as the Wildcats swept North Carolina A&T State in a commanding 7-0 win.
"Today was a good win for our guys while being down a few players," echoed Head Coach Drew Barrett. "The guys made some good adjustments and found ways to improve. We're really happy to see them build confidence in their games."
The 'Cats jumped out to a solid start, sweeping the doubles matches as freshmen duo, Maxwell Kachkarov and Alejandro Solares, continue to dominate their competition from the No. 1 doubles court. From court two, Sam Kavarana and William Clark competed together for the first time this season, pulling out a 6-3 win, before Alexander Loope and Jerry Wang also produced a 6-3 victory from court three. Today also marked Wang and Loope's first doubles appearances of the season.
In the singles matches, Kachkarov made his collegiate debut at the No. 1 court, and quickly came out with a 6-1, 6-4 win that clinched the match victory for the 'Cats. Reigning A-10 Rookie of the Week Solares won fast as well, picking up 6-1 and 6-2 wins from court four.
Ogden Timpson and Wang made their season singles debuts, as each Wildcat battled from courts five and six, respectively, before coming out with three-set tie-breaking wins. Kavarana also won in a three-set tie-breaker, from court two, for his second individual victory of the season. Clark competed as Davidson's No. 3 singles player today, and recorded his second singles win of the year.
The Wildcats are back in action next Sunday for a rematch against the nationally-ranked Wake Forest Demon Deacons.
