‘Cats Climb Leaderboard with Impressive Second Round

MOBILE, Ala. – Sophomore Brian Garrett and freshman Alex Heffner each carded rounds of 3-under 69 Monday as the Davidson golf team fired an impressive 6-under 282 on day two of the 2021 Mobile Bay Collegiate at Magnolia Grove Golf Course.
Battling through cold and wet conditions, senior Alex Ross also posted a sub-par round with a 1-under 71 as the Wildcats climbed into sixth place matching the day's second lowest team score.
Sitting at 5-under 571 after two rounds, Davidson will enter the final day just seven strokes out of the Top-3.
The 'Cats will be paired with UAB and Indiana in Tuesday's third and final round, which will begin with a 11 a.m. shotgun start.

Illinois (-26), which led by five strokes following Sunday's first round, opened up an 11-shot lead with a 12-under 276 this afternoon.
After sitting in a three-way tie atop the individual leaderboard, the Illini's Michael Feagles (-10) grabbed the outright lead with his second straight 67.
The 14-team/54-hole event hosted by South Alabama, also features UAB, Indiana, Texas State, Illinois State, Toledo, Illinois, Kansas State, Kent State, Lipscomb, Southern Miss, Western Kentucky and Michigan.
Next Tournament
Davidson will enjoy a two-week break before heading to Historic Pinehurst No. 2 for the Wake Forest Invitational March 1-2.
