NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Redshirt sophomore Elle Sutphin captured the first Atlantic 10 weekly honor of her career on Monday afternoon, earning the league's Player of the Week nod after leading Davidson to a 2-0 week.
The North Carolina native put up 14 points and a game-high eight rebounds in a 68-46 win over Western Carolina last Monday and scored a team-high 20 points during Davidson's win over UNC Charlotte on Wednesday. As she averaged 17 points per game over the week, Sutphin shot 63.2 percent from the floor and went 10-of-10 from the charity stripe to help Davidson defeat its cross county rival for just the fifth time since 2000 and close out non-conference play with a 9-3 record, the Wildcats' best since the 2006-07 season.
