WILMINGTON, N.C. -- The Davidson women's tennis program concluded its run at the UNC Wilmington Invitational early this weekend, after weather related issues caused the 'Cats to only get one day of play in on Friday.
Starting off the day with singles play against JMU, Emma Heiderscheit, Daniela Porges and Mira Gladstone collected wins from courts four, five and six, respectively. From court four, junior Heiderscheit earned a commanding 7-5, 7-5 victory. Porges and Gladstone each battled to three-set victories, as the two dropped their first sets before bouncing back with sets two and three comeback wins. Porges won 3-6, 6-4, 1-0 (4) from court five, while Gladstone came out on top 2-6, 6-1, 1-0 (7).
In doubles play, Elizabeth Truluck and Victoria Anyanwu pulled off a 7-5 victory over Wilmington's Joksimovic and Parker-Shumate.
"We competed really well on Friday and improved in many areas," said Head Coach Susanne Depka. "I was so proud of the focus we showed during the last two weeks of practice and the team took what they've worked on in those two weeks and applied them to their matches. It was a lot of fun to see their growth show on the court."
This weekend wraps up the 2021 fall season, as the Wildcats will be back in action on Jan. 22, 2022 against Kennessaw State.
