Wildcats Earn Early Win at the Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. — A win in the women's 200 free relay highlighted Davidson swimming and diving's Friday performance at the three-day Bucknell Invitational.
The quartet of Shelby Stanley, Abby Francis, Martha Tripsa and Chalé Jacks swam out front in 1:32.98 in the meet's first event.
In the Wildcats' next-best finish, Abby Francis swam to second in the women's 50 free with a time of 23.32, while Shelby Stanley (women's 200 IM, 2:02.29) and Jared Herr (men's 500 free, 4:35.15) earned third-place points.
Siena Senn placed fourth in the 500 free in 4:54.15, as teammate Sylvia Stewart-Bates also reached the A finals (8th, 4:59.52). Also for the Davidson women, Stanley and Francis joined Julia Goodhead and Hannah Gould on the fifth-place 400 medley relay (3:47.42), and divers Anna Jepson (251.55) and Annica Valmassei (250.55) placed sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 3-meter competition.
For the Davidson men, the young 400 medley relay of Jeremy Kemp, Cael McLaren, Miles Charles and Ben McClain took fourth (3:22.05), while Ian Brann, Ty McLaren, Guil Ware and McClain touched the wall seventh in the 200 free relay (1:23.53). Owen Curry placed sixth in the 500 free (4:40.39), and divers Ben Cutforth (251.60) and Drew Sheldon (211.30) were fifth and eighth in the 1-meter.
Through 12 events, Towson leads both the men's and women's team standings. The Wildcat men are fourth and the women fifth heading into the second day.
