Curry Named A-10 Performer of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Having helped Davidson swim past George Mason last weekend, Owen Curry has been named Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon.

The honor is the first for the sophomore from Chester, N.J.

"I am delighted to see Owen recognized by the conference," said Davidson coach John Young. "He was outstanding this weekend, leading the Wildcats in events we knew we needed to win. If he stays as focused as he's been, this won't be the last story we have about him."

Curry won three events against the Patriots at the Richmond Duals, posting top-five A-10 times in all three. He won the 1,650 freestyle in 16:31.06, the 500 free in 4:45.73 and the 400 IM in 4:09.26.

Curry is the third Davidson swimmer to be honored by the A-10 this year. On Oct. 19, Shelby Stanley and Miles Charles were recognized as Performer and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

Curry and the Wildcats return to competition at the Bucknell Invitational Nov. 19-21.
