WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- The Davidson College women's tennis team competed at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association's Carolina Regional this past weekend, competing in doubles and singles play in a 20-team field including Duke University, UNC and Clemson.
Josie Schaffer was Davidson's lone Wildcat to appear in the Main A1 draw, where she took on Clemson's Ali DeSpain in a two-set, 3-6, 4-6 decision. Two bright spots from the regional were freshmen Daniela Porges and Kavya Patel, who each picked up a singles victory during the round of 64. Patel earned a three-set, 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 (3) victory against NC Central, while Porges pulled off an impressive 6-4, 6-0 victory against Charleston Southern.
On the doubles side, Schaffer and Patel earned an impressive victory over UNC Chapel Hill's own McClure and Zink, in an 8-4 fashion.
