Wildcat Men Lead Patriots After Day One of Richmond Duals

Davidson Women Win Six Events in Loss to Richmond
RICHMOND, Va. — Davidson swimmers and divers accounted for 13 event wins Friday, on the opening night of the two-day Richmond Duals.
The Davidson men, who are facing George Mason both days, won seven events to build a 108-97 lead, while the Wildcat women won six in a 162-137 loss to the host Spiders. They'll now face East Carolina Saturday morning.
Shelby Stanley and Ben McClain each won two events to lead the Wildcats.
Stanley, the reigning Atlantic 10 Most Outstanding Performer and A-10 Performer of the Week, swept the butterfly events. She won the 100 in 56.24 and the 200 in 2:06.02. McClain swam out front in the 100 and 200 freestyles in 46.61 and 1:41.93, respectively.
McClain also swam with the winning 400 free relay team that posted a time of 3:07.47, joining Jeremy Kemp, Ty McLaren and Ian Brann. Kemp and Brann were also individual winners, with Kemp leading a 1-2-3 Davidson finish in the 200 back (1:52.03) and Brann winning the 50 free (21.35).
Owen Curry swam to a win in the 1,650 free (16:31.06), and Ben Cutforth won one-meter diving with a score of 224.50.
Other swimming wins for the Davidson women came from Siena Senn in the 500 free (5:04.07) and Sylvia Stewart-Bates in the 1,650 free (17:25.40). Davidson divers Anna Jepson and Tess Hamilton won the 1M and 3M competitions with scores of 217.05 and 210.80, respectively.
