Wildcats and Dukes Battle to 1-1 Draw

DAVIDSON, N.C. – In a match where the two teams combined for 35 shots, Davidson and Duquesne played to a 1-1 (2OT) draw in Atlantic 10 men's soccer action Saturday evening inside Alumni Stadium.
Both teams move to 6-3-1 overall, while the 'Cats are now 1-1-1 in league play with the Dukes remaining unbeaten at 2-0-1.
In addition to the match being tightly contested throughout, the two goals were scored by each teams' center back off corner kicks.
Jack Emanuel gave Duquesne the early advantage when he put away a Ryan Goodhew corner with a fourth-minute header.
Trailing 1-0 at the break, Davidson's Trey Gardiner picked a good time for his first career score as the all-rookie performer from the spring provided an equalizer off Henry Howell's assist.
The Wildcats had a number of chances to go in front late, including a pair from Connor Smith that missed just wide of frame.
Giacomo Piccardo was brilliant in goal again for the 'Cats picking up a game-high seven saves.

Davidson will hit the road for three straight beginning with a 7 p.m. kickoff at Fordham Wednesday evening.
