Charles, Stanley Earn A-10 Weekly Honors

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Based on their performances against Old Dominion Oct. 15, Davidson swimmers Shelby Stanley and Miles Charles have earned Atlantic 10 Conference honors, the league announced Tuesday afternoon.

Stanley is this week's A-10 Women's Performer of the Week, while Charles is A-10 Men's Rookie of the Week.

Stanley, the reigning A-10 Most Outstanding Performer, ranks first in the A-10 in both butterfly events and improved on her marks against ODU. The junior from Roanoke, Va., swam out front with times of 55.32 in the 100 fly and 2:05.29 in the 200 fly and also swam on the Wildcats' victorious 4x100 medley relay, joining Hope Carpenter, Rani Greer and Abby Francis in a time of 3:51.63. The Davidson women emerged with a 167-118 team win.

Charles, a freshman from Chapel Hill, also swept the butterfly events against ODU, as the Wildcat men tied the Monarchs 147-147 in the team tally. He won the 100 fly in 51.58 and the 200 fly in 1:56.84. His times also rank among the A-10 leaders.

Next, Charles, Stanley and the Wildcats will compete at the Richmond Duals Oct. 22-23.
