‘Cats Climb into Top-10 with Impressive Final Round

DULUTH, Ga. – Highlighted by a five-under 67 from sophomore Alex Heffner and two other sub-par rounds, Davidson carded the day's second lowest team total to climb into the Top-10 at the 2021 Georgia State Invitational.
The two-day/54-hole event was played on the Par 72, 6,706-yard Berkeley Hills Country Club layout.
The Wildcats, who sat 12th after day one, fired a seven-under 281 Tuesday to conclude the annual event in ninth place at 869 (+5).
Clayton Tribus (214 | -2), who competed as an individual for Davidson, signed for his second consecutive round of 70 to come home tied for 12th out of 87 golfers.
Heffner (71-78-67 = 216 | E), Will Davis (73-72-71 = 216 | E) and Viraj Garewal (75-73-70 = 218 | +2) led the Wildcats' charge up the leaderboard with final-round scores in the red.
Ethan Hall (72-75-73 = 220 | +4) and Brian Garrett (76-77-79 = 232 | +16) were also in the Davidson lineup.
Wright State (-18) recorded a tournament-low 13-under 275 in the final round to claim the team title by 10 over day-one leader Lafayette (-8).
Oakland's Thomas Giroux (-12) led wire-to-wire and edged Tobias Jonsson (-10) of Mercer for individual medalist honors.
