Women’s Tennis Adds Two For Class of 2024

DAVIDSON, N.C. — Head coach Susanne Depka of the Davidson women's tennis team announced today the addition of two incoming freshmen for the Class of 2024.
Joining the team for the 2020-21 season will be Charlotte James (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Ava Ignatowich (Delray Beach, Fla.).
"Davidson women's tennis is very fortunate to have Charlotte and Ava join our team starting this fall," said Depka, who will be entering her fourth season at the helm. "They are wonderful young ladies who will help shape and grow our program. My assistant Kelly (Cameron) and myself are excited to begin working with them and know they will make an immediate impact. I am so honored they chose Davidson and our team, and I can't wait to see all they accomplish not only in their first year but the next four years as well."

Hometown: Pittsburgh, Pa.
High School: Fox Chapel Area
Prep and personal: Three-year letterwinner at Fox Chapel Area under coach Alex Slezak … went undefeated senior regular season at No. 1 singles … first women's Western PA Singles Champion in school history … 2019 Western PA Singles Champion and Singles State Finalist … 2019 Team State Champion … Esmark High School All-American and All-State … Singles and Doubles 2019 ITA Summer Circuit Event Champion … achieved top 100 national ranking … 2016 & 2017 State Doubles Champion … National Honor Society … graduated Summa Cum Laude … earned Top Scholar Award … father played tennis at North Carolina and mother was on the crew team at McGill University, while sister played golf at Southern Methodist.
Ava Ignatowich
Hometown: Delray Beach, Fla.
High School: Florida Virtual School
Prep and personal: A four-star recruit … In 2019, reached a career high ranking of 130th nationally on tennisrecruiting.com … reached the finals of a Grade 5 ITF in 2018 … brother plays tennis at Vanderbilt and father ran track at Connecticut.
