
Ross and Naime T-6th; Golf Remains in 2nd at Pinehurst

PINEHURST, N.C. – Dean Naime carded one of the better rounds of the day to climb into a tie for sixth with teammate Alex Ross, while Davidson remained in the runner-up spot after the second round of the 2020 Pinehurst Intercollegiate.
The three-day/54-hole event is being played on the Par 71, 6,937-yard Pinehurst No. 8 layout.
Naime (75-73 = 148), who transferred from Colgate in the offseason, was steady through the cold and wind on his way to the day's fourth lowest score. The sophomore climbed seven spots up the individual leaderboard to join Ross, who also sits at 148 (+6) following a 75.
Clayton Tribus (153 | T-20) and Brian Garrett (154 | T-25) are also inside the Top-25 for the 'Cats (298-303 = 601), who trail first-round leader Elon by 16.
Through two days, just five scores out of 162 rounds have been at par or better.
Also, in the Davidson starting lineup is Viraj Garewal (158 | T-46), who improved his score four strokes from yesterday, while Ethan Hall (82-76 = 158), Cole Walter (79-80 = 159), Will Simmons (84-78 = 162) and Michael Freeman (81-86 = 167) are competing as individuals.
After opening with a 71, Graham Hutchinson fired the day's only sub-par round (71) to remain atop the leaderboard.
Tomorrow's third and final round will begin at 9 a.m. off holes No. 1 and 10.
