Davidson Begins Quest for A-10 Title Tuesday Night at Home

DAVIDSON, N.C. — The 2020 Atlantic 10 Women's Basketball Championship begins Tuesday night inside John M. Belk Arena where Davidson will open the first round hosting La Salle at 7 p.m.
The first round games will be played on campus sites for the third straight year and then the tournament will move to Dayton, Ohio, where the quarterfinals, semifinals and championship will be played on the campus of Dayton.
The Wildcats (15-14, 8-8 A-10) earned the seventh seed and for the second straight season, the chance to host their first game in the first round since the A-10 went to campus sites for the championship three years ago.
Seeded 10th, the Explorers (13-16, 7-9 A-10) enter the game Tuesday night having won three of their final five regular season games. They exceeded expectations by finishing four spots ahead of the coaches' preseason poll predication of 14th.
A-10 TOURNAMENT HISTORY ...
••This is Davidson's sixth year in the A-10 Tournament and it is 1-5 all-time.
•Last year the Wildcats collected their first win in the tournament, a 74-49 decision against St. Bonaventure.
•Davidson then fell in the quarterfinals to Dayton to end their tournament run.
•La Salle and Davidson have faced each other just once in the tournament, back in 2015 when the No. 11 Explorers defeated the No. 14 Wildcats 74-63 in the first round.
•The 'Cats went 16-21 all-time in the SoCon Tournament, reaching the championship game three times.

•The Wildcats advanced the ball out of a timeout, but Katie Turner's three-point attempt from the corner fell short with two seconds left. VCU then hit one more free throw to close out the four-point win.
•Suzi Rose-Deegan led all players in points and rebounds by scoring 17 and hauling in seven boards.
