Valmassei Gains Experience at NCAA Zones

ATHENS, Ga. — Davidson's Daniel Valmassei completed his first entry in the NCAA Zones Tuesday having gained valuable experience.
Valmassei scored 283.80 points to finish 28th in Monday's three-meter competition, and he placed 32nd in the one-meter event on Tuesday with 232.50 points. More than that, he just enjoyed the chance to compete on the big stage.
"Definitely overall a great experience," said diving coach Greg Ferrucci. "He made huge improvements on dives under the pressure of a zone meet. The competition was fierce, and the fact that he made it that far and beat out a few of the best of them was a huge accomplishment! It also was a great way to put myself, Daniel and Davidson diving on the map. The future is bright."
In his first Davidson season, the junior transfer won the Atlantic 10 championship in the one-meter event and took silver in the three-meter.
