Mason Earns First Career A-10 Weekly Award

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — Senior Thomas Mason took home his first career Atlantic 10 weekly honor, and Davidsons's second of the season, when the league named him the player of the week for men's tennis for matches played from Jan. 20-26.
For the second week in a row, the Wildcats took home one of the A-10 weekly awards after William Clark was named the A-10 Rookie of the Week last week, Jan. 22.
Mason led Davidson to wins against Fordham and Sacred Heart last weekend by going 2-0 in singles play to remain perfect on the season at 3-0. The senior helped clinch the 'Cats' first win against an A-10 opponent with a 6-3, 6-2 win at No. 4 singles.
The Boulder, Colo., native followed with a dominating 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 4 vs. Sacred Heart, scoring one of five team points for the Wildcats in a 5-2 win.
Mason, a two-time A-10 Commissioner's Honor Roll honoree, pushed his career singles record to 24-15 and won his sixth career A-10 match with the victory against the Rams of Fordham.
Davidson, off to its best start since 1998 at 3-0, will look for win No. 4 when it hosts USC Upstate, Feb. 4, at 5 p.m.
