DAVIDSON, N.C. – Highlighted by a pair of sub-par rounds from Alex Ross (70-71), Davidson sits fourth following day one of the 2019 River Run Collegiate.
The two-day/54-hole event is being played on the Par 72, 7,317-yard River Run Country Club layout.
A junior from Atlanta, Ga., Ross (-3) is tied for fifth, which is currently six shots off the lead held by Charlotte's Trey Tobias.
Viraj Garewal (146 | +2), the 2019 Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Year, also opened with a two-under 70 for the 'Cats, before carding a 76 on his afternoon round. Like his classmate, Clayton Tribus sits inside the Top-15 at 146 (75-71).
Transfer Dean Naime (153 | T-53) and freshman Ethan Hall (153 | T-53) are also in the Wildcat lineup, while Will Simmons (158), Brian Garrett (161) and Cole Walter (164) are competing as individuals in the 88-player field.
Led by Walker Cress (-6), who is three back of Tobias, James Madison (-13) holds the top spot on the team leaderboard by 11 over the 49ers.
Tomorrow's final round will begin at 7:55 a.m. off holes No. 1 and 10.
