Wildcats Visit UMass This Weekend

With its home schedule now complete, the Davidson baseball team will play its final seven regular season games on the road, beginning with a three-game weekend set at UMass.
The series, originally set to begin Friday, will now start with a Saturday doubleheader at 11:30 a.m. Sunday's first pitch is at 12 p.m.
Davidson (22-18, 10-5 A-10) is coming off a 12-10 non-conference win over N.C. A&T Wednesday night, when the Wildcats hit four home runs for the fourth time this season, taking their 2019 total to 50. Davidson won two of three A-10 games against Saint Louis last weekend.
The Minutemen (16-21, 7-8) lost to non-league foe Hartford 5-4 in 10 innings on Tuesday after winning two of three A-10 games against La Salle last weekend.

Designated hitter Ruben Fontes added to his league-best home run count Wednesday by hitting his 11th against N.C. A&T. It was the sophomore's first round-tripper since the April 9 game at Winthrop.
Fontes' solo homer in the seventh inning tied the game at 10-10 before Matt Frey followed with his own solo shot to push the Wildcats ahead for good. Frey hit two home runs Wednesday and extended his reached-base streak to 35 games. He's also now hitting .304, joining Eric Jones above the .300 mark.
Jones (.357) just turned in his 20th multi-hit game.
Justin Lebek is one of four A-10 players to have nine home runs, while Frey and Brett Centracchio have seven apiece.
Centracchio is hitting .526 (10-for-19) the last four games with six doubles, five RBI and a home run.
Gabe Levy is among the league leaders with seven saves.

Pitcher Casey Sutherland continues to lead the nation in walks per nine innings (0.48) and is second in strikeout-to-walk ratio (16.33).
Against Saint Louis April 26, the right-hander struck out six and walked none to take his season totals to 49 strikeouts and three walks in 56.2 innings. He is 6-0 with a 3.18 ERA.
