Lang Adds Another Top-5 to Standout Career; Golf Finishes Sixth at Challenging Stitch Intercollegiate

CARY, N.C. – Highlighted by another Top-5 showing from Jack Lang, the Davidson men's golf team concluded the rain-shortened 2019 Stitch Intercollegiate with a sixth-place finish Saturday morning.
Originally scheduled for 54 holes, the two-day/36-hole event was played on the Par 72, 6,973-yard MacGregor Downs Country Club layout.
After opening with 294, the Wildcats (580|+4) posted a 2-under 286 in the final round to finish just six shots behind No. 41 Campbell (-2) and one better than No. 34 South Florida (+5).
In all, the 14-team field consisted on six Top-50 teams, including No 3. Wake Forest (-14), which edged ACC foe and No. 21 Louisville (-13) by a shot. No. 20 Liberty (-11) and tournament host, No. 26 NC State (-11), tied for third.
Coming off a third-place showing at the Irish Creek Collegiate, Lang (140|-4), this week's A-10 Player of the Week, fired a final-round 68 to record his school-record 13th career Top-5 finish.
Ranked 101st nationally by GolfStat, Lang's 36-hole total was better than six players ahead of him in the polls.
Hoke Carlton (146|T-29), Alex Ross (147|T-38), Viraj Garewal (148|T-46) and Clayton Tribus (150|T-57) were also in the Wildcat lineup this weekend.
The Wolfpack's Stephen Franklin (-8) defeated Cameron Young of Wake Forest in a playoff to claim individual medalist.
