Sutherland sitting them down
In 33.2 innings on the mound, senior right-hander Casey Sutherland has struck out 28 batters and walked three, which has helped him post a 4-0 record.
Those numbers have also placed him high in the conference and national rankings. Sutherland leads the A-10 with a 9.33 strikeout-to-walk ratio and ranks 11th nationally. He is also the conference leader in walks per nine innings (0.80), which has him seventh in the nation.
Sutherland is slated to start the series opener.
Fontes, 'Cats lead in home runs
Sophomore designated hitter Ruben Fontes hit his 10th home run of the season Tuesday at Winthrop and continues to lead the A-10. Nationally, he ranks 20th, and he also ranks 15th nationally with 0.37 home runs per game. But Fontes isn't the only Wildcat stacking up a few dingers.
Davidson has hit 31 home runs as a team, which also leads the conference. Justin Lebek has hit five home runs, while Eric Jones and Brett Centracchio have hit four apiece.
