Golf Begins Play at Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate

FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. – Coming off its fifth consecutive Top-5 finish, Davidson continued its 2019 spring campaign Monday at the Fort Lauderdale Intercollegiate.
The two-day 54-hole event is being played on the Par 72, 6,861-yard Fort Lauderdale Country Club layout. Tomorrow's third and final round will begin at 7:51 a.m.
Davidson (289-295 = 584) will enter the final day just 10 shots out of third place.
Ranked 23rd nationally, South Florida (-20) leads by 15 strokes over Florida Gulf Coast. The Bulls were led by Albin Bergstrom (-11) and Luke Gifford (-6), who hold the top-two spots on the individual leaderboard.
Jack Lang (69-75 = 144/E) and Viraj Garewal (70-74 = 144/E) paced the Wildcats with sub-par rounds in the morning before both concluded the day tied for 15th.
Through 16 rounds this season, Lang has posted 12 scores of par or better.
Fellow senior Hoke Carlton continued his steady play carding consecutive rounds of one-over 73 to sit T-23rd at two-over 146.
Alex Ross (+6/T-40th) and Michael Freeman (+19/71st) are also in the Wildcat lineup, while freshman Clayton Tribus (+5/T-36th) is competing as an individual.
