'Cats Climb into Second Place at Furman Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Davidson continued its steady play as the Wildcats climbed into a tie for second Saturday at the 2019 Furman Intercollegiate.
The 54-hole event is being played on the Par 71, 6,984-yard Furman University Golf Course.
Davidson (283-284 = 567), which entered day two in third place, is currently tied with the host Paladins, six back of Coastal Carolina (-7). The Chanticleers moved atop the 21-team leaderboard following a five-under 279.
Hoke Carlton (140 | -2) paced the Wildcats this afternoon with a two-under 69 and is tied for third out of 119 competitors with teammate and overnight leader Alex Ross (69-71 = 140 | -2).
Looking for the 13th Top-10 finish of his career, senior Jack Lang is tied for eighth at 142 (71-71).
Coming off the best showings of their brief careers, freshmen Viraj Garewal (72-73 = 145 | T-24) and Clayton Tribus (76-75 = 151 | T-70) are also competing for the 'Cats this weekend.
Keller Harper (Furman) and Wes Artac (Coastal Carolina) posted rounds of 63 and 64, respectively, to separate themselves from the field at 9-under par.
Tomorrow's final round will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. Davidson will be playing alongside Coastal Carolina, Furman and Virginia Tech.
