
Scannell Garners Fifth A-10 Weekly Honor

Davidson freshman swimmer Thacher Scannell continued his strong collegiate debut with multiple wins at Gardner-Webb Saturday, and the effort has earned him Atlantic 10 Conference Rookie of the Week honors for a fifth time, the league announced Tuesday.
At Gardner-Webb, the Stamford, Conn., native won the 200-yard freestyle in a Bost Pool-record time of 1:41.85, and he won the 500 free in 4:42.40.
Additionally, Scannell joined teammates Brian Hynes, Matt Bode and Walter Dauksher on the victorious 400 free relay team that also set a pool record (3:07.10).
Scannell's previous A-10 honors came on Nov. 6, Nov. 20, Dec. 11 and Jan. 15.
The Wildcats return to action Feb. 20-23 at the A-10 championships in Geneva, Ohio.
