PHILADELPHIA, Pa.  — The Davidson men's tennis team made it a successful trip to Philadelphia, Pa., when it scored wins of 4-2 and 4-0 vs. Atlantic 10 foes Saint Joseph's and La Salle over the weekend, Feb. 22-24.

The pair of wins pushed the 'Cats' league win streak to three (3-0), while improving to 8-3 overall on the season. SJU fell to 0-4 (0-1 A-10) and the Explorers dropped to 1-6 overall (0-3 A-10).

On Friday night vs. the Hawks, the Wildcats were able to claim the doubles point and then took home three singles wins to secure the team victory. The doubles teams of Douglas MacIntosh and Camden Mazzoni won 6-4 at No. 2, while Alexander Loope and Matthew Rose took a 6-1 decision at No. 3.

Singles wins came from the freshmen duo of Sam Kavarana (No. 3, 7-5, 6-0) and Brooks Green (No. 5, 6-3, 6-2), while Mazzoni rolled to a 6-0, 6-1 decision at No. 4.

Saturday evening saw Davidson get off to a great start by sweeping the doubles point from La Salle. First-time partners Rose and Axel Fries cruised to a 6-1 win at No. 1, while new doubles partners Loope and Yash Parikh nailed down a 6-4 win at No. 3.

The pair of MacIntosh and Mazzoni won 6-4 at No. 2, bumping their record on the season to 7-3 with a 3-0 A-10 record.

Davidson was able to seal up the team win with three singles victories at No. 2, 5 and 6 positions. Parikh won his seventh match of the season with a 6-2, 6-4 triumph at No. 2, while Thomas Mason brought home a 6-1, 6-4 decision at No. 5.

Reigning A-10 Rookie of the Week Green capped off another strong singles week with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 6. It was the freshman's eighth win of the year and he remained perfect in league matches at 3-0.
The winning weekend gave the Wildcats as a team 40 singles wins in 59 matches, with another 18 doubles wins

Davidson is off until March 4 when it travels to Florida Southern for a 2 p.m. match.
