FAIRFAX, Va. –
Davidson women's track and field senior Caroline Yarbrough placed second in day one of the Atlantic 10 Indoor Championship Saturday at George Mason Field House.

The veteran distance runner battled in the 5k, but ultimately fell in a kick on the final lap. The Greensboro, N.C., native crossed the line in 16:40.16. She will return in Sunday's 3k, an event she has won twice before.

In the first track event of the day, freshman Meghan Corso snapped her own tie atop the 60-meter hurdle record board, stopping the clock in 9.20 seconds. Corso previously tied Rosie Lewis' time of 9.22 seconds set at the JDL Dual Meet Madness in late January.

For the second time in as many meets, freshman Bianca Nolde-Lopez broke the 400-meter record. Nolde-Lopez stopped the clock in 57.70 seconds, second in her heat and tenth overall, just missing out on Sunday's finals.

The 'Cats had a pair of scorers in the pentathlon, led by Makayla Binter's school record outing. The junior multi's athlete registered 3365 points, edging out her total at the Queens Combined Events Meet (3356 pts) in the tune-up for the indoor champs. Binter placed eighth overall, while freshman Hazel Tankard scored 3265 points for eighth.

Moving on to Sunday's finals will be senior Tori Long in the 500-meters. Long automatically moved in by winning her heat with a time of 1:15.32.

Davidson's 800-meter record holder in the 800-meters, Eleni Daughters, advanced to the finals with a time of 2:13.08 after placing second in her section and fourth overall.

Sophomore Grace Loehr just missed out on the finals in the 500-meters, placing second in her heat with a time of 1:16.74. Junior sprinter Katie Hines took second in her heat of the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.77 seconds.

Senior Claire Nieusma registered a time of 2:59.42 in her first ever running of the 1,000-meters.

The Wildcats added to their total in the final event of the day, placing fifth in the distance medley relay. The team of Nieusma, Katie Hines, Katie MacTurk and Sophia Mills stopped the clock in 11:55.78.

Davidson returns to the field house, tomorrow, Sunday, Feb. 24 for the final day of the championship. First event is slated to start at 9 a.m.
