Two fourth-place finishes by the Davidson men and another entry in the recordbook by Sarah Helen Shepherd marked Saturday, the fourth and final day of the Atlantic 10 Conference Championships at the SPIRE Institute in Ohio.
Thacher Scannell took fourth in the 1,650 freestyle (15:42.84) and joined Walter Dauksher, Ian Hentenaar and Matt Bode on the fourth-place 400 free relay team (2:59.79).
Having already set school records in the 200 and 400 individual medleys in Ohio, Shepherd tied the program record in the 200 backstroke (set in 2016 by Kate Moreton) with a time of 2:01.40. She finished sixth.
The women's team's best finish of the day came in the 400 free relay, as Frances Resweber, Maggie Farrell, Siena Senn and Shepherd placed fifth (3:25.85). Farrell took eighth in the 100 free (51.22). Isabella McElrath was 14th in the 200 fly (2:05.44), and Helen Duffy was 16th in the 200 breaststroke (2:23.31).
For the men, Mitchell Stanek climbed to second all-time in program history in the 200 breast with a time of 2:00.12, taking fifth.
Dauksher (45.21) and Bode (45.37) took seventh and eighth, respectively, in the 100 free, and Owen Corkery took seventh in the 200 backstroke (1:47.57) to lead four Wildcats in the event. Brian Hynes (11th, 1:48.74), Patrick Kelly (13th, 1:51.33) and Chris Chao (15th, 1:51.51) swam in the B finals.
The men had four B finalists in the 200 butterfly, led by Will Tabor, who was ninth (1:48.86). Ian Hentenaar was 12th (1:50.37), followed by Hynes in 14th (1:50.67) and Griffen Younger in 16th (1:52.29). Jared Herr placed 12th in the 1,650 (16:02.56), and Crossan Cooper was 14th in the 200 breast (2:04.09).
The men totaled 398 points to finish fourth among eight A-10 teams, while the women finished eighth among 11, totaling 222.5 points.
