Wrestling Splits a Pair of Matches at the Patriot Duals

FAIRFAX, Va. – Wrestling split a pair of matches at the Patriot Duals Friday, downing Long Island, 24-18, before falling to host George Mason, 41-3.
With the split, Davidson moves to 1-3 in duals on the season.
The first match against the LIU Sharks started slow, but picked up late with four of the final five 'Cats getting their hands raised to seal Davidson's first dual win of the season.
Davidson senior 165-pounder, Noah Satterfield, picked up his first fall of the campaign to double the Wildcats points to 12 after a Kyle Gorant win by forfeit at 133 pounds. Satterfield pinned Michael Parrish in the second period.
Freshman Steven Newell backed up Satterfield with another pin at 174 pounds in the first period, his second of the season.
Tied at 18 with two matches remaining, Wildcat senior Conor Fenn and sophomore Mitchell Trigg finished off the Sharks with a pair of decision victories, 7-0 and 6-0 respectively.
Fenn picked up the lone 'Cat win against the Patriots, earning a 9-0 major over Ramses Montalvo.
Following a lengthy finals and holiday break, Davidson returns to the mats Wednesday, Jan. 1 for the first of two days at the Southern Scuffle.
