NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — For the second week in a row and third time overall, freshman Suzi-Rose Deegan took home the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for women's basketball as announced Monday by the league office for games played from Dec. 23-29.
Deegan is the first Wildcat to take home three rookie of the week honors in a season since Davidson joined the league in 2014-15.
The freshman shooting guard from Marmion, Australia had another "first" this past week, recording her first collegiate double-double in Davidson's lone game of the week at Florida, Dec. 29. Deegan went for 14 points and a season-best 13 rebounds, hauling in six on offense and seven on defense, both season highs. In addition, the freshman pocketed a season-high four steals, setting a new team season best, while dishing out three assists.
Deegan, who paces the team in scoring (15.8 ppg / 5th in the A-10) and has a league-best 79 made field goals, has scored in double figures in six straight games, nine of 10 overall and a team-best 10 total.
Davidson (7-6) begins A-10 play, Jan. 4, with a trip to Saint Louis for an 8 p.m. contest on Saturday.
