Women's XC Wraps Up Season at NCAA Southeast Regional

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Davidson freshman Natalie Abernathy paced women's cross country around the NCAA Southeast Regional course Friday at Panorama Farms, the last race of the season for the Wildcats.
Abernathy led Davidson to 23rd as a team out of 34 scoring squads. She entered the chute in 22:14.0, the 101st competitor overall. Senior and Charlottesville native, Maddie Hunter, was the next Davidson runner to complete the 6,000-meter course, stopping the clock in 22:20.9, nine spots behind her teammate.
North Carolina State won the regional title with 48 points ahead of Furman (83) and Virginia Tech (116).
Making her first trip to XC Regionals as a senior, Paige McKinney posted a solid performance, traversing the course on 22:51.2, the third Davidson competitor to cross the line.
Freshman Alexis McDonnell (22:53.5) and senior Susannah Cate (23:03.7) rounded out the Wildcat scoring contingent.
