TROY, N.Y. – The Davidson wrestling team battled at the Journeymen Collegiate Classic on Sunday in Upstate New York.
Wildcat freshman Dalton Blankenship posted three wins at 141-pounds including a first-round fall over Samuel Lynch of Brown late in the first period. The rookie from Aragon, Ga., placed second overall.
"Today was a great test for us – seeing four teams currently ranked in the Top-25 nationally," said head coach Andy Lausier. "I thought we battled hard, but I want to see our wrestlers be more assertive and sustain their efforts for the entire match, especially in the toughest of situations and against the toughest of opponents."
Junior Will Baldwin posted a pair of wins at 149 pounds including his first career fall and took third. Senior Noah Satterfield also saw his hand raised twice in the 165-pound class.
Three Wildcats took fifth - Erik Eva at 157 pounds and heavyweight sophomores Finlay Holston and Mitchell. Senior Conor Fenn also posted a win in the Empire State.
Davidson opens the dual match portion of their schedule Saturday, Nov. 16 with a Southern Conference road clash at VMI. The first bout is slated to begin at 1 p.m. from Lexington, Va.
