Wrestling Drops a Pair to VMI and F&M

LEXINGTON, Va. – Senior Conor Fenn and sophomore Kyle Gorant both went 2-0 as wrestling opened the dual match portion Saturday afternoon against Southern Conference foe VMI and non-league opponent Franklin and Marshall.
The 'Cats opened the day with a 22-16 setback to F&M before falling to the host Keydets, 28-15.
Gorant posted a strong day at 133 pounds, earning a first period fall over his opponent from F&M before returning for a SoCon bout decision victory against VMI's Cliff Conway. Gorant improves to 5-1 to open the season.
Fenn evens out at 4-4 overall after a pair of hand raisings. The Cummings, Ga., native earned a major and regular decision on the day.
The Wildcat freshmen had a strong showing against the Diplomats with David Loniewski (141) and Steven Newell (174) each earning decision victories.
In the SoCon dual, Noah Satterfield (165) and Mitchell Trigg (285) earned a hand raise. Trigg pinned his opponent in the first round.
Davidson returns to the mats for their home opener Friday, Nov. 22 against Chattanooga in a SoCon showdown at Belk Arena!
