Volleyball Hosts Fordham, Rhody This Weekend

DAVIDSON — The Davidson volleyball team will be back in action this weekend with Atlantic 10 Conference home matches against Fordham and Rhode Island.
The two home contests will complete a stretch that has seen the Wildcats play 11 of 12 inside Belk Arena. Friday's match with Fordham is set for 7 p.m., while Rhode Island visits at 1 p.m. Sunday. Davidson is coming off a 3-0 loss to VCU last Friday night.
Junior middle blocker Ellie Crosley continues to lead the A-10 with a .381 hitting percentage, while freshman middle blocker Madeline Wynn is third with 1.27 blocks per set and fourth in hitting percentage (.326). Junior setter Sydney Champaigne ranks fourth with 9.02 assists per set, and senior libero Josie Treadwell is fifth with 4.10 assists per set.
Scouting Fordham
Fordham enters with a 7-8 record and is 0-3 in the A-10. The Rams lead the A-10 in hitting percentage defense (.166) and digs per set (18.69).
Morgan Williams leads the league with 6.08 digs per set and had 42 at Dartmouth Sept. 14, which earned her A-10 Defensive Player of the Week honors. Outside hitter McKenna Lahr leads the team with 183 kills and has had 21 in two matches this year.
Fordham has played its last seven on the road and lost five straight. After facing Davidson, the Rams visit VCU on Sunday.
Scouting Rhode Island
Rhode Island will come to Davidson after a Friday contest at VCU.
The Rams enter Friday 6-9 overall and 1-2. They had won five of six before losses at Dayton and Saint Louis last weekend and are playing four straight on the road.
On Sept. 30, two Rams earned A-10 recognition. Setter Annie Ell was named the league's co-offensive player of the week, while Libero Ella Ratzloff was named co-defensive player of the week. Ell had back-to-back 60-assist matches and ranks second in the A-10 in assists per set (9.53). She is fourth with 20 aces.
Ratzloff was honored for setting a program record with 42 digs vs. Fordham on Sept. 28. She is second in the A-10 with 5.17 per set.
