DULUTH, Ga. – Alex Ross continued his impressive play as the junior fired a collegiate-low seven-under 65 to finish tied for fourth, while Davidson posted a final-round total of 288 and came home fifth at the 2019 Autotrader Collegiate Classic.
The two-day event was played on the Par 72, 6,706-yard Berkeley Hill Country Club layout.
Named A-10 Golfer of the Week on Monday, Ross enjoyed a bogey-free final round en route to his third consecutive Top-5 showing. Through nine tournament rounds this fall, the 2018 Conference Rookie of the Year has a 70.67 stroke average.
Ross, who made National headlines this past summer with a record 15-under 57 at the Dogwood Invitational, just missed tying the tournament low of 8-under 64, held by Braden Thornberry (Ole Miss | 2016) and Oliver Simonsen (Chattanooga | 2018).
A day after carding a season-low 282 (-6), Davidson's even-par final round was its second-best team round of 2019-20.
In addition, it was the Wildcats ninth Top-5 finish dating back to last season. Davidson's 54-hole total of 865 (295-282-288) was just four back of third-place USC Upstate and two back of Boston College.
Dean Naime (71-75-69 | 215) put together his best tournament as a Wildcat finishing tied for 13th, while individual competitor and freshman Brian Garrett (+2 | T-23) also finished inside the Top-25.
Sophomores Viraj Garewal (219 | T-26) and Clayton Tribus (223 | T-45) and freshman Ethan Hall (235 | T-74) were also in the Davidson lineup this week.
James Madison (-20) claimed the team title by five shots over Lipscomb (-15), while the Bison's Nolan Ray (-14) maintained his overnight lead to take the individual crown.
Up Next
Davidson will conclude its fall slate Oct. 26-27 at the Steelwood Collegiate Invitational hosted by South Alabama.
